abstract A method for network element version management comprises the following steps:an Element Management System(EMS) queries the version currently running on the network element device; the version currently running on the network element device is compared with a network element device version prestored for the network element device, and if the version currently running on the network element device is different from the network element device version prestored for the network element device, then a download request is issued to the network element device; after the download request is received by the network element device, the network element device version prestored by the EMS is downloaded. A network system and an EMS are also provided. This solution can realize the automatic management of the network element version, reduce the workload and the error rate of maintenance personnel, and ensure that the entire communication system of operators is running robustly; the unified management of multi-operator version is realized, which further strengthens the role of the EMS.
