A method of predicting the probability that an abnormality will occur in an oil-filled electric appliance, which involvesn(1) the step of determining the concentration of dibenzyl disulfide remaining in an insulating oil sampled from the oil-filled electric appliance being working,n(2) the step of determining an estimated decrease in the residual dibenzyl disulfide concentration from an initial dibenzyl disulfide concentration determined at the time when the oil-filled electric appliance started operating,n(3) the step of calculating the initial dibenzyl disulfide concentration from the residual dibenzyl disulfide concentration and the estimated decrease, andn(4) the step of comparing the initial dibenzyl disulfide concentration with a specific control value. |
