The invention is directed to an oral dosage form with reduced potential for drug abuse comprising (a) at least one amine-containing pharmaceutically active compound or salt or solvate thereof, (b) at least one weak organic acid or salt thereof, which forms an insoluble precipitate with component (a) in an aqueous environment at a pH of at least 5, and (c) at least one basifying agent in an appropriate amount to achieve a pH of at least 5 in the environment of the oral dosage form when being dissolved, wherein at least one portion of the oral dosage form is formulated for immediate release and components (b) and (c) are predominantly contained in this portion, and wherein another portion of the oral dosage form is formulated for extended release and contains at least the majority of component (a). |
