abstract The invention relates to an opening aid (1) for manually opening an energy drag chain (E), which comprises a number of chain links (K), each having two side plates (S1, S2) connected to each other at the bottom, wherein at least some of the chain links (K), on the upper side (O) thereof, have transverse webs (St, St1, St2, St4) disposed pivotably on a side plate (S1, S2), each transverse web being fixable to the other side plate (S2, S1) by means of a closure element designed as a latching or detent element, such as a bolt or detent hook (R), wherein the other side plates (S2, S1) are joined to form a plate strand (L), and wherein the opening aid (1) comprises a body (2) extending in the working direction (a) and having a guide (3) for guiding said aid in the working direction (a) parallel to the longitudinal direction (1) of the energy drag chain (E) on said chain. In order to simplify opening, the guide (3) for guiding the opening aid (1) comprises a guide space (4) on the plate strand (L) of the energy drag chain (E) for receiving the plate strand (L), wherein the guide space (4) is open in and against the working direction (a) and at the bottom and is delimited laterally by means of at least one lateral side of the body (2) for being seated on the interior against the plate strand (L).
