abstract The present invention relates to a method for producing mesenchymal stem cells from human pluripotent stem cells, comprising the steps of: forming embryonic bodies from human pluripotent stem cells; attaching the embryonic bodies to a culture dish to induce a natural differentiation of the embryonic bodies into mesenchymal stem cells; and proliferating the mesenchymal stem cells while still maintaining the identity of the mesenchymal stem cells. The present invention also relates to a standardized method for inducing the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells, which may be broadly applied to all human pluripotent stem cells regardless of differences in genetic backgrounds. Ultimately, the present invention may provide a constant and quantitatively large supply of mesenchymal stem cells using human pluripotent stem cells, which are required for regenerative medicine and stem cell therapy. Therefore, the practical uses of cell treatment agents may be realized, and treatments for difficult cases such as cardiovascular diseases and neurological disorders are expected to be highly benefited by the present invention.
