More particularly, the invention relates to mannose 6-phosphate isomerase enzymes and variants thereof, recombinant expression vectors containing expression genes thereof, microorganisms transformed to express such genes, manufacturing methods for producing large quantities of mannose 6-phosphate isomerase enzyme and its mutants, and production methods for high yields of L-ribose made with the mannose 6-phosphate isomerase mutant enzymes.
