abstract The present invention relates to a skin-whitening composition containing saponified evening primrose seed oil as an active ingredient. The saponified evening primrose seed oil of the present invention inhibits tyrosinase gene expression, which is essential for melanin production, inhibits Trp1, Trp2 and MITF gene expression, which are associated with melanin production, exhibits excellent effects in inhibiting pigmentation, and may be effectively used for whitening the skin.
