abstract A composition comprising (a) a betaine of formula (1), wherein R 1 is a monovalent radical of an aliphatic C 4 -C 30 hydrocarbon, R 2 and R 3 independently of one another represent C 1 -C 12 alkyl and X and Y independently of one another denote a bivalent radical of an aliphatic C 1 -C 12 hydrocarbon, (b) a quaternary ammonium salt of formula (2), wherein R 4 is a monovalent radical of an aliphatic C 4 -C 30 hydrocarbon, R 5 , R 6 and R 7 independently of one another represent C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 5 -C 24 aryl or C 6 -C 3 0 aralkyl, A - is halogemde, nitrate, hydrogensulfate or sulfonate, and (c) an alkoxylated fatty alcohol, is suitable as shade enhancer for the EL portion in PA/EL blends in the dyeing process using dark shade dyes.
