Sensor cartridge with dissolvable cover layer |
abstract |
The invention relates to a sensor device (50) and an associated cartridge (10) which allow to detect the presence or absence of a cover layer (30) on a detection surface (12) of the cartridge (10). The presence of the cover layer typically reveals the absence of sample fluid in the reaction chamber of the cartridge, as the cover layer is dissolvable in the sample fluid. To this end, an optical structure (20) is formed in the detection surface (12). Detection of a cover layer (30) on this optical structure (20) is then achieved by evaluating an output light beam (L2) that originates from an interaction at the optical structure (20). Preferably, the cover layer (30) has the same refractive index as the material of the optical structure (20). It may particularly comprise sucrose. |
