abstract Disclosed are: an electrode for a microbial fuel cell, which can generate a high-output electric current in a microbial fuel cell; and a microbial fuel cell equipped with the electrode. Specifically disclosed is an electrode for a microbial fuel cell, which comprises an electrode base and an electrically conductive polymer formed on the whole or a part of the surface of the electrode base and having a nano-wire structure, and which can be used as an anode for a microbial fuel cell. In the electrode, the surface area is significantly increased. Therefore, the affinity between an electron conductive microorganism and the electrode is increased, and consequently the efficiency of the charge transfer from the microorganism to the electrode can be dramatically increased.
