abstract The invention relates to a method for estimating the health risk of a test subject, wherein a database is used to compare blood chemical risk factors with data on the measured risk factors, deaths, and causes of death of a plurality of patients, said data being sorted according to the age and sex of said patients. In order to enable an advantageous risk estimation, the data of the risk factors stored in the database and sorted according to gender, age group, and risk factor are combined into value groups in the manner of quantiles by means of a program, a quantile is associated with the test subject depending on the gender and age of the test subject and the values of the risk factors of the test subject, the mortality risk in the quantile range of the test subject, which mortality risk is determined based on the deaths within specified death periods having a cause of death that can be traced back to the respective risk factors, is compared with the corresponding mortality risk of the quantile having an order that is still harmless in regard to the respective risk factors, and the relative mortality risk of the test subject determined therefrom is output depending on whether a specified threshold is exceeded.
