Method for producing herbal extract comprising a Petroselinum specie and an Ocimum specie, said method comprising the steps of(i)Mixing at least one herb selected among the group consisting of a Petroselinum specie, preferably Carum Petroselinum, and an Ocimum specie, preferably Ocimum Basilicum, with at least one fluid, preferably water, at an elevated temperature; (ii) Optionally allowing the obtained mixtureto cool, (iii) Optionally stirring to further divide said at least one herb into finer parts, (iv) Filtering the mixture, optionally under pressure, and discarding herb fragments, (v) Optionally adding at least one preservative, preferably sodium benzoate, to the remaining extract, preferably while the extract is still at an elevated temperature;(vi) If not both a Petroselinum specie and an Ocimum specie were used in step (i), further mixing the obtained extract of steps (i) to (v) with another extract comprising the other herb and obtained by steps (i) to (v).The herbal extract is useful for repelling insects and for the treatment of a range of skin conditions comprising insect stings or bites, eczema, rashes, sunburn and acne. |
