abstract The invention relates to an apparatus for applying a load to at least one device under test and/or gaining information on the service life of the device under test. Said apparatus comprises at least one drive unit which rotates the device under test about a longitudinal axis and is fitted with at least one electrical torque motor. The apparatus further comprises at least one clutch and at least one control unit which controls at least the drive unit. According to the invention, the control unit releases the clutch after a predefined number of measurement phases and engages the clutch after a predefined period of time and/or after an unloaded phase.
