titleOfInvention Pharmaceutical composition containing herbal extracts for preventing or treating nephritis
abstract The present invention relates to a novel use of herbal extracts in a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating nephritis. More specifically, the present invention provides: a pharmaceutical composition and health food for preventing and/or treating nephritis containing one or more herbal extracts selected from the group consisting of Crataegus oxyacantha, Cinnamomum cassia Blume, Prunella vulgaris and Equiseti Herba; a method for treating nephritis using the herbal extracts; and a use of the herbal extracts for manufacturing a composition for preventing and/or treating nephritis. The herbal extracts are useful in preventing and/or treating nephritis in drug-induced nephritis models such as those induced by gentamicin, cisplatin and the like, and have a high suppression activity for mesangial cell growth in the kidney.
