abstract Provided are a cannula which can be inserted with reduced resistance and comprises a protrusion for retaining the cannula in place, and a simple method of manufacturing the cannula. A cannula (1) used by being inserted into an eyeball in ophtlalmic surgery, wherein the cannula comprises: a tubular section (2) having an insertion hole in the axial direction; a pointed tip section (3) formed by sharpening the tubular section at the end thereof which is inserted into the eyeball; a flange section (4) provided to the tubular section near the end thereof which is on the side opposite to the pointed tip section; and a protrusion section (5) consisting of silicone and formed on the pointed tip section or on the outer periphery of the tubular section at the position thereof near the pointed tip section.
