Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device wherein image burn-in is reduced. Specifically disclosed is a liquid crystal display device which comprises a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal layer that is held between the pair of substrates. At least one of the pair of substrates comprises an alignment film and a polymer layer arranged on the alignment film, and the polymer layer is formed by a polymerization reaction in which the reaction of a polymerizable monomer is started by a polymerization initiator that is present in an amount of 1 mol% or less relative to the polymerizable monomer. |
