abstract The present invention relates to a process for obtaining a composite calcium phosphate foam comprising the steps of : a) forming a biopolymer foam by agitating or gas blowing a polymer aqueous solution comprising gelatin, sodium alginate, soybean derived polymer or combinations thereof; and b) mixing the biopolymer foam obtained in a) with calcium phosphate cement powder. The invention also relates to the composite calcium phosphate foam obtainable by the process of the present invention and its use as a biomaterial in bone regeneration and/or scaffold for bone tissue engineering.
