abstract Disclosed is a method for producing a ketone, comprising: oxidizing an internal olefin or a cyclic olefin having at least one carbon-carbon double bond at a site other than a terminal within the molecule in an amide-based solvent represented by formula (1) in the presence of water, palladium(II) trifluoroacetate, and molecular oxygen; and attaching an oxo group to at least one of the carbon atoms which form the carbon-carbon double bond. In formula (1), R1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R2 and R3 each independently represent an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aryl group, and when R1 and R2 are each an alkyl group, R1 and R2 may combine with each other to form a ring structure.
