titleOfInvention | S-perfluoroalkyl substituted hydroxybenzylthioethers and derivatives as surface modifiers |
abstract | The invention describes a composition of comprising an organic material which is susceptible to oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation, and a compound of the formula (I) wherein the general symbols are as defined in claim 1; especially wherein at least one of the radicals R 2 , R 3 or R 4 is -CH(R 11 )-S(O) p -R 12 ; R 11 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, unsubstituted or with d-C 1 -C 4 alkyl substituted phenyl, R 12 is a monovalent linear or branched organic radical containing a perfluorinated alkyl having 6 fully fluorinated carbon atoms, n is 1, 2 or 3, and p is 0, 1 or 2. The invention describes further a process for reducing the surface energy of organic materials such as for example increasing the oil and water repellency and stain release of organic materials, which comprises treating the organic material with at least a compound of the formula I. |
