| abstract |
A balloon delivery catheter medical apparatus is disclosed. The medical apparatus comprises an optional handle portion, a proximal shaft and a distal shaft. A core wire extends from the proximal shaft to the distal tip of the apparatus. A coil surrounds the distal end of the core wire, creating in a blunt, atraumatic tip. The coil is welded directly to the core wire. A balloon, which may carry a stent, is bonded directly to the distal shaft mounting portion of the catheter near the balloon's proximal end and is bonded to the core wire and coil near the balloon's distal end. A proximal balloon control band is arranged coaxially about the proximal end portion of the balloon. A distal balloon control band is arranged coaxially about the distal end portion of the balloon. A method for manufacturing a medical apparatus and a method for using a medical apparatus is also disclosed. |
