abstract Provided is a method for removing manganese from a sulfuric -acid-acidified wastewater containing aluminum, magnesium, and manganese by selective precipitation of manganese while inhibiting the precipitation of magnesium. Specifically provided is a method for removing manganese from a sulfuric-acid-acidified wastewater containing aluminum, magnesium, and manganese by selective precipitation of manganese while inhibiting the precipitation of magnesium, said method being characterized by subjecting the wastewater to the following steps (1) and (2): step (1) of removing aluminum from the wastewater; and step (2) of adding a neutralizing agent to the wastewater which has been freed from aluminum to adjust the pH to 8.0 to 9.0, and then blowing oxygen gas into the resulting wastewater.
