titleOfInvention Stabilized blends of polyester and polyamide
abstract Disclosed are stabilized blends of polyester and polyamide. The polymer blends are stabilized with A) one or more lactone stabilizers, B) one or more di-hydrocarbyl hydrogen phosphonates or one or more di-hydrocarbyl hydrogen phosphonites or C) one or more monoacrylate esters of 2,2'-alkylidenebisphenol antioxidants. The present blends exhibit reduced color formation, a high level of whiteness/brightness and acceptably low haze formation upon heat treatment. The blends are useful to make bottles, containers and films for drinks, food and cosmetics and the like. The polyester is in particular polyethylene terephthalate, PET, and the polyamide is in particular polyamide-MXD6. Heat treatment is for example melt extrusion or solid state polymerization, SSP.
