abstract |
A composite substrate for forming a light-emitting device, wherein a high quality nitride-based light-emitting diode can be easily formed on the top surface, and wherein the obtained light-emitting diode that is attached to the substrate functions as a light-emitting device that is able to emit light of any color such as white. The composite substrate for forming a light-emitting device comprises: a light conversion material substrate which emits at least some of the incident light as light of a different wavelength from a surface on the opposite side of the incident surface; and at least two Al-including nitride layers which are formed on the light conversion material substrate. The light conversion material substrate has a composition wherein at least two oxide layers are continuously and three-dimensionally entangled with each other, said oxide layers including an Al 2 O 3 phase and an oxide phase which emits at least one fluorescent light. The nitride layers comprise: a first layer formed from an Al-including nitride layer formed on the light conversion material substrate; and a second layer formed from AlN having a dislocation density of 1×10 12 /cm 2 or less, and preferably a surface roughness (RMS) of 10 nm or less. |
