titleOfInvention | Physiological parameter sensors |
abstract | A temperature sensor (500, 550, 600, 650, 680) includes a substantially uniform substrate (502) including a first material and including a first surface, a first contact (504) over the first surface and proximate to a first side (524) of the substrate (502), and a second contact (506) over the first surface and proximate to a second side (526) of the substrate (502). The second side (526) is opposite the first side (524). The second contact (506) is spaced from the first contact (504) by a first distance (dj, d2). The first contact (504) includes a second material different from the first material. The second contact (506) includes the second material. Upon application of a voltage between the first contact (504) and the second contact (506), a measurable current propagates through a substantial portion of the substrate (502). A blood gas concentration sensor (800, 900, 1000, 1050) includes a first housing (802) at least partially defining a first chamber containing a first electrolyte (820), a first electrode (804) in the first chamber, and a second electrode (808) in the first chamber and substantially parallel to the first electrode (804). The first housing (802) includes a gas permeable material. The first electrode (804) includes sides (805) and an end (807). The sides (805) of the first electrode (804) are surrounded by a first insulating layer (806). The end (807) of the first electrode (804) is in contact with the first electrolyte (820). The end (807) of the first electrode (804) is not in contact with the first housing (802). The first electrode (804) includes a first metal. The second electrode (808) includes a second metal. A potential difference between the first metal and the second metal is at least about 0.5 volts. |
