Water-resistant polarizing film, and process for producing same |
abstract |
A water-resistant organic thin film comprising an organic compound having at least two sulfonate groups and a compound having at least two nitrogen atoms in the molecule is known. However, a water-resistant polarizing film containing a compound having an aromatic ring structure as the compound having at least two nitrogen atoms in the molecule has unsatisfactory water resistance, and is largely deteriorated in the optical properties including a transmittance and a polarization degree when the polarizing film is exposed to a highly humid environment for a long period. Disclosed is a water-resistant polarizing film which comprises an organic dye having at least two anionic groups and a compound having an alicyclic structure containing at least two nitrogen atoms in the molecule. A typical example of the organic dye is an azo compound represented by general formula (2). |
