Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display element, by which response characteristics can be easily improved without using a large apparatus. Specifically disclosed is a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display element, which comprises: a step wherein a first alignment film (22), which is formed from a polymer compound having a crosslinkable functional group as a side chain, is formed on one of a pair of substrates (20, 30); a step wherein a second alignment film (32) is formed on the other of the pair of substrates (20, 30); a step wherein the pair of substrates (20, 30) are arranged in such a manner that the first alignment film (22) and the second alignment film (32) face each other, and a liquid crystal layer (40) containing liquid crystal molecules (41) with negative dielectric anisotropy is sealed between the first alignment film (22) and the second alignment film (32); and a step wherein the liquid crystal molecules (41) are pre-tilted by crosslinking the polymer compound after sealing the liquid crystal layer (40). |
