abstract |
An abnormality detection device for an exhaust purification device quickly determines whether or not the amount of a reducing agent to be supplied to a selective reduction type NOx catalyst is in shortage. Supply of the reducing agent of an amount required to reduce the amount of NOx flowing into the selective reduction type NOx catalyst is started after it is determined, based on the assumption that a reducing agent supply means has no abnormality, that the reducing agent of an amount more than or equal to a predetermined level is being adsorbed to the selective reduction type NOx catalyst. Abnormality of the reducing agent supply means is determined based on the NOx purification rate when a predetermined time has passed after the start of the supply of the reducing agent. When the reducing agent supply means is abnormal, the NOx purification rate decreases. |
