Provided is a method for immunoassaying keratan sulfate comprising: bringing a biological sample into contact with an anti-keratan sulfate monoclonal antibody that has a relative reaction specificity for keratan sulfate-I and keratan sulfate-II, in terms of IC50KS-I/KS-II, of 0.4 to 5; and detecting keratan sulfate in the biological sample from the thus obtained signal. Based on said immunoassay method, also provided are a method for detecting a joint disease and a method for determining the effect of a remedy for a joint disease or a candidate substance therefor as the subject to be evaluated. According to these methods, a trace amount of keratan sulfate contained in a sample (in particular, the total keratan sulfate including keratan sulfate-I that can be hardly assayed by the existing methods) can be specifically assayed at a high sensitivity, a joint disease can be detected, and the effect of a remedy for a joint disease or a candidate substance therefor can be determined. |
