titleOfInvention Microbial electricity-generating method and microbial electric generator
abstract Provided is a microbial electric generator wherein power generation efficiency has been improved by a simple and inexpensive means. A negative electrode chamber (32) is formed between two sheet-like cation exchange membranes (31, 31) by the sheet-like cation exchange membranes (31, 31) being disposed parallel to each other inside a tank (30). Two positive electrode chambers (33, 33) are formed, separated from said negative electrode chamber (32) by the respective cation exchange membranes (31). Oxygen-containing gas is passed through the positive electrode chambers (33) and a negative electrode solution (L) is supplied to the negative electrode chamber. Preferably, the negative electrode solution is circulated. Organic substance-containing water, such as sewage, is used as the negative electrode solution that is supplied to the negative electrode chamber (32). Electricity-generating microbes are efficiently proliferated and the efficiency of electricity generation is improved by removing microbes by inducing coagulation and sedimentation of the organic substance-containing water and reducing the amount of exogenous microbes entering the negative electrode chamber.
