abstract The fuel cell electrodes are provided with a catalyst layer (21) that comprises conductive microparticles (12) loaded with a catalyst (11) and a fibrous substance (13) that is not carrying catalyst and at least a portion of which is aggregated into a cocoon shape. On the main surface of the catalyst layer (21), there is at least one fibrous substance aggregate (15) that is exposed in a circular or elliptical shape, and the individual exposed area is 9‑2000 µm 2 . The fuel cells are provided with such fuel cell electrodes.
