titleOfInvention Method for manufacturing a zirconium derivative, hydrate, or oxide
abstract The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a particle powder, comprising the following consecutive steps: a) preparing an acid mother liquor through mixing [1] a polar solvent; [2] a first reagent providing Zr4+ and/or Hf4+ ions; [3] a second reagent providing anionic groupings; [4] an additive selected from the group formed of anionic tensioactive agents; amphoteric tensioactive agents; cationic tensioactive agents, carboxylic acids, and the salts thereof; non-ionic tensioactive agents selected from the group of compounds having the formula RCO2R' and R-CONHR' and the mixtures thereof, R and R' being aliphatic, aromatic, and/or alkylaromatic carbon chains; and the mixtures thereof; [5] optionally, another non-ionic tensioactive agent; [6] optionally, a porogenous agent; b) heating the mother liquor so as to precipitate out the Zr4+ and/or Hf4+ ions and the anionic groupings in the form of a compound having the formula M(0H)x(N')y(0H2)z, referred to as the primary derivative of zirconium and/or hafnium, M being a metal cation or metal cation mixture, N' being an anion or anion mixture, the subscripts x and y being strictly positive numbers, the subscript z being a positive or zero number, the primary derivative having water solubility at a temperature less than 20 QC less than 10-3 mol/L, and optional drying; and c) optionally transforming the primary derivative into a secondary derivative of zirconium and/or hafnium through the substitution of said anionic groupings by other anionic groupings, referred to as substitute anionic groupings. The invention can be used for catalysis and filtration.
