abstract | Disclosed is a method for producing poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT), wherein one or two reactors are employed to simplify production processes. The method for producing poly(trimethylene terephthalate) using one or two reactors or one kneader-type extruder according to the present invention, comprises the steps of supplying 1,3-propanediol and terephthalic acid or 1,3-propanediol and dimethyl terephthalate to the material injection port of the reactor or the kneader-type extruder such that the mole ratio of propylene to the terephthalate group becomes 1.1 to 2.2, producing low molecular weight poly(trimethylene terephthalate) in the reactor or the kneader-type extruder through a direct esterification or transesterification, supplying a polymerization catalyst and an additive to the auxiliary injection port of the reactor or the kneader-type extruder, and applying a vacuum to the rear part of the reactor or the kneader-type extruder to produce high molecular weight poly(trimethylene terephthalate) through polycondensation, and forming the produced poly(trimethylene terephthalate) into pellets by using a pelletizer directly connected to the reactor or the kneader-type extruder. |
