abstract The present invention relates to means for dying keratin fibers, particularly human hair, which contain at least one p-phenylenediamine derivative of the formula (I) as a developer component in a cosmetically acceptable carrier, wherein the groups R1 and R2 stand independently of each other for a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group, a C 1 -C 6 alkoxy group, a halogen atom, a C 1 -C 6 alkyl group, a C 2 -C 6 alkenyl group, a C 1 -C 6 monohydroxyalkyl group, a C 2 -C 6 polyhydroxyalkyl group, an aryl group, a heteroaryl group, or an amino group, the group A stands for a -CR2H- group, an oxygen atom, or an NR3 group, wherein R3 stands for a hydrogen atom, a C 1 -C 6 alkyl group, a C 1 -C 6 monohydroxyalkyl group, or a C 2 -C 6 polyhydroxyalkyl group, and n stands for the number 1, 2, or 3.
