abstract A simple, efficient and commercially useful method for purifying an aminoacetylpyrrolidinecarbonitrile derivative which is useful as a DPP-IV inhibitor.  In the method procedure, a salt is formed from an aminoacetylpyrrolidinecarbonitrile derivative represented by formula (1) and maleic acid or the like, then the salt is isolated, and then the derivative is reproduced from the salt. (In the formula, A represents CH 2 , CHF or CF 2 ; R represents an optionally substituted C 1 -C 6 alkyl group, an optionally substituted C 3 -C 8 cycloalkyl group, an optionally substituted arylmethyl group, an optionally substituted arylethyl group, an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon ring, an optionally substituted aromatic heterocyclic ring or an optionally substituted aliphatic heterocyclic ring; and n represents 1 or 2.)
