abstract |
Disclosed is a novel epigallocatechin gallate trimer. Also disclosed is an α-glucosidase inhibitor comprising an epigallocatechin gallate polymer. The α-glucosidase inhibitor has an α-glucosidase inhibiting activity, and therefore can inhibit the decomposition of a sugar derived from a starch or a polysaccharide contained in a diet to inhibit the absorption of the saccharide. The α-glucosidase inhibitor can be added to a food or a beverage, thereby providing a food or a beverage which has an excellent α-glucosidase inhibiting activity and can be used for the purpose of inhibiting the absorption of a sugar and preventing diabetes for a long period. |
