The invention relates to the field associated with protein-expressing transgenic plant technology. Specifically, the invention relates to a novel method for increasing the expression of proteins in plants, preferably cellulolytic enzymes, and, in particular, to the production of endoglucanases CeIY and CeIZ of Dickeya dadantii in tobacco chloroplasts by introducing genes into the plant chloroplast genome. The invention is suitable for use in any industrial process that requires the use of a large amount of enzymes such as, for example, in the conversion of cellulosic biomass to ethanol. |
