abstract The present invention provides a composition of atractyloside (ATR) or carboxyatractyloside (CATR) for treating cancer. Treatment of tumours with ATR is shown to suppress tumour growth and to enhance median survival times in a breast cancer model. ATR compositions are also shown to be useful in treating tumours refractory to other chemotherapeutic regimens.
