The invention relates to a novel hemostatic device and method of stabilization of fibrinogen-containing and thrombin-containing ingredients used in the device. The device induces hemostasis, and provides topical delivery of medications, to wounds, most importantly, trauma wounds. The improved devices exploit the normal clotting mechanism by combining fibrinogen and thrombin. The device includes a hemostatic pouch comprising a protective pouch that comprises bioresorbable flexible material that is soluble in blood and/or lymph; and a hemostatic core placed inside said protective pouch. The hemostatic core is preferably a mixture of thrombin-containing microspheres or granular particles and fibrinogen-containing microspheres or granular particles that are bioresorbable and soluble in blood and lymph. |
