abstract |
Disclosed is a cryopreservative composition which can cryopreserve a cell or tissue of an animal including human or a plant safely without the need of using any toxic cryopreservative agent such as dimethyl sulfoxide. Also disclosed is the application of the cryopreservative composition for the cryopreservation of foods or pharmaceutical preparations or the application of the cryopreservative composition to cryopreserved products. Succinic anhydride is reacted with ε-poly-L-lysine to block 60% or more of the amino groups in ε-poly-L-lysine. A polymeric compound produced in this manner is dissolved in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM), which is one of commercially available liquid culture media, at a concentration of 7.5 w/w% to produce a cryopreservative solution. For a food or pharmaceutical preparation, the ε-poly-L-lysine/succinic acid derivative is added to the food or pharmaceutical preparation at a concentration of 0.5 to 10% to prevent the occurrence of cryonical concentration of the food or pharmaceutical preparation. |
