Provided are a method for the efficient production of alkylated aromatic compounds such as cumene etc. where a compact reactor can be employed, and a method for producing phenol including a process whereby cumene is obtained using said method. In the method for producing an alkylated aromatic compound, a raw material containing aromatic compound and alcohol is introduced into a fixed bed reactor packed with solid acid catalyst with a gas/liquid cocurrent downflow system, and the reaction gas flow rate on entry to the solid acid catalyst layer, specified by the following equation, has a value of at least 0.05. ρg・ug・[ρair・ρwater/(ρg・ρl)] 1/2 (kgm -2 s -1 ) |
