titleOfInvention Method for strain-hardening of linear polymers and strain-hardened linear polymer compositions
abstract The present invention relates to a method for strain-hardening of linear polymers and strain-hardened linear polymer compositions. According to the method for strain-hardening of a linear polymer of the present invention, to introduce a branching structure or a network structure to a linear polymer, a compatibilizer that is compatible with the linear polymer and surface-treated fine particles functioning as a core of the network structure are added to the linear polymer and mixed together. In this way, the linear polymer is endowed with a strain hardening capability exhibiting a rapid increase of viscosity with respect to elongation. Because of this, a polymer experiences a uniform thickness transformation at the time of elongation flow, the thickness at the edge of a molded article remains uniform and a breakage phenomenon is suppressed. In addition, compared with a case where fine particles are added without going through the surface treatment, much improved mechanical properties are observed.
