abstract |
Disclosed is a method for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester, which enables production of a fatty acid alkyl ester with high yield without using an alkali metal catalyst. A catalyst for production of a fatty acid alkyl ester is also disclosed. The method for producing a fatty acid alkyl ester is characterized in that a fatty acid alkyl ester is produced by reacting a triglyceride with an alkyl carbonate or an alcohol in the presence of an organic base carbonate. The catalyst for production of a fatty acid alkyl ester is characterized by being mainly composed of an organic base carbonate. |
