abstract A negative electrode element (1) for a lithium-ion secondary battery includes: a negative electrode current collector (2); and a negative electrode layer (5) that includes an alloying active material layer (3) formed on the negative electrode current collector (2) and a resin layer (4) formed on a surface of the alloying active material layer (3) so as to have an opening that exposes part of the alloying active material layer (3) to a surface of the negative electrode layer (5). The surface of the alloying active material layer (3), exposed to the opening, and a surface of the resin layer (4) form a step so that the surface of the resin layer (4) is farther from a surface of the negative electrode current collector (2) than the exposed surface of the alloying active material layer (3).
