abstract This invention provides a process for producing a compound represented by general formula (3): (3) wherein R represents a divalent aliphatic group or divalent aromatic group having 1 to 16 carbon atoms, the process comprising (i) the step of reacting a compound represented by general formula (1): (1) with a carboxylic acid halide represented by general formula (2): (2) wherein R is as defined above; and X represents a halogen atom, in the presence of a basic compound to produce an ester, and (ii) the step of, subsequent to step (i), heat treating the ester to decompose an oligomer in the ester.
