abstract |
Disclosed is a novel process for producing a polyfunctional epoxy monomer through the reaction between a polyolefin and an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution under mild conditions without using any organic solvent, wherein a catalyst in an aqueous layer can be separated from a reaction solution readily and the hydrogen peroxide efficiency is good. The process comprises reacting an organic compound having a carbon-carbon double bond with hydrogen peroxide contained in an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution to cause the epoxidation of the double bond, thereby producing a corresponding epoxy compound. In the process, a tungsten compound and a tertiary amine are used as reaction catalysts. |
