abstract |
Disclosed is an industrially advantageous process for producing a nucleic acid derivative (e.g., an L-thymidine) and an intermediate compound of the nucleic acid derivative. Also disclosed is a novel intermediate compound which is useful for the synthesis of a nucleic acid derivative. An arabinoaminooxazoline compound is treated with a base, protected and haloganated to produce a 2'-halogen-5,6-dihydrouridine-5-exomethylene form. The exomethylene form is isomerized to produce a 2'-halogen-thymidine compound. The 2'-halogen-thymidine compound can be dehalogenated and deprotected to produce thymidine. Alternatively, the 2'-halogen-thymidine compound may be treated with a base to produce a 2,2'-anhydroarabinosylthymine. |
