abstract |
Disclosed is a flaky material which contains a metal oxide as the main component and is produced by a sol-gel method. The flaky material comprises an oxide matrix composed of the metal oxide, a fluorescent dye dispersed in the oxide matrix, and an organic acid. Also disclosed is a process for producing a flaky material, which comprises the steps of: preparing a sol solution containing at least one fluorescent dye by hydrolyzing a metal compound; applying the sol solution containing the fluorescent dye on a base plate to form a film; and peeling the film from the base plate to produce the flaky material, wherein the hydrolysis is carried out by using at least one organic acid as a catalyst. |
