Provided is a fuel cell electrode catalyst having a higher performance than a conventional platinum alloy catalyst. It is also possible to provide a method for manufacturing the catalyst and a solid polymer type fuel cell using the catalyst. The fuel cell electrode catalyst is made from a noble metal-non-noble metal alloy having a core-shell structure held on a conductive carrier. The catalyst composition in the shell satisfiers the following: noble metal ≥ non-noble metal. |
