The invention relates to metallic pigments with a plate-shaped metal substrate, wherein the metallic pigments comprise at least one metal oxide layer. The surface of the metal oxide layer comprises at least one surface modifying agent with fluoro alkyl and/or fluoro aryl groups. The invention further relates to a method for the production of the metallic pigments according to the invention and to the use thereof in coating powders, particularly to coating powders produced by mixing methods, and to the use of said coating powders.
