abstract | The invention provide a method for making silicone hydrogel contact lenses. The method of the invention is characterized by using a solvent mixture including at least one organic solvent which dissolve the polymerizable material in a lens-forming composition and a small amount of water. By having a small amount of water in the lens-forming composition, the mechanical strength of lenses cast-molded from the lens-forming composition can be sufficiently high so that the lenses can survice during mold opening and demolding process, thereby increasing the production yield. |
